Islamabad, 21 June 2023 (WAI): Hina Rabbani Khar, Minister of State of Pakistan, had a constructive talk with the Ambassador of Germany to Pakistan, Alfred Grannas. The two countries’ bilateral cooperation was to be strengthened at the meeting through commerce, investment, education, career training, migration, and mobility, among other sectors.
During the session, one of the critical areas of focus was the enhancement of trade and investment between Pakistan and Germany. Both officials recognized the unrealized potential in this sector and expressed their commitment to promoting and exploring new avenues for investment. Pakistan and Germany can unlock mutual benefits and contribute to the growth and development of both economies by fostering stronger economic ties.
Education and vocational training were also prominent topics of discussion. Minister Hina Rabbani Khar emphasized the significance of educational collaboration between the two countries. Recognizing Germany’s technical and vocational education expertise, Pakistan seeks to benefit from Germany’s experience in these domains. By enhancing educational cooperation, Pakistani students can acquire valuable skills and knowledge to contribute to their personal and professional development.

The discussion also focused on visa issues experienced by Pakistani students. Minister Khar stressed the critical importance of resolving these concerns immediately. Pakistani students hoping to study in Germany have needed help acquiring visas, which has hampered their educational goals. Minister Khar underlined the need to resolve these visa concerns to promote academic exchange and strengthen people-to-people links between the two countries.
Both countries’ representatives acknowledged the essence of safe and legal migration channels as they explored the subjects of migration and mobility. They underscored the significance of efficiently controlling migration flows while preserving migrants’ rights. Cooperation in this area can lead to comprehensive migration policies promoting migrants’ well-being and dignity. They also agreed that Pakistan and Germany can create a stronger alliance that fosters mutual prosperity and progress by addressing these issues and encouraging closer engagement.
