Islamabad, May 7, 2025 (WAI): The Government of Pakistan strongly condemns the unprovoked airstrikes carried out by Indian forces under the codename “Operation Sindoor” on Wednesday, which targeted multiple locations in Pakistan. Initial assessments confirm that at least three civilians have lost their lives, and 12 others sustained injuries as a result of these reckless attacks.

The strikes reportedly hit nine locations across Bahawalpur’s Ahmed East, Kotli, Muzaffarabad, Bagh, and Muridke, causing significant damage to civilian infrastructure. Contrary to Indian claims of targeting militant hubs, visual and ground reports confirm that only non-combatant areas were impacted. Among the victims were women and children, highlighting the grave humanitarian cost of this aggression.

“These cowardly airstrikes were conducted from within Indian airspace and deliberately targeted innocent civilians,” said Lt. Gen. Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR). “Pakistan Air Force jets responded immediately, and we reserve the right to respond at a time and place of our choosing.”

The attack comes in the wake of increased tensions following the tragic killing of Hindu tourists in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) last month — an incident Pakistan has categorically denied any involvement in. The Indian government’s baseless allegations and unilateral military action are a blatant violation of international law and regional peace norms.

A red alert has been issued at major airports in Pakistan, and emergency protocols have been activated nationwide.

Pakistan urges the international community to take immediate notice of India’s reckless escalation and stands firm in its resolve to defend its sovereignty and protect its citizens.
