Moscow, 14 December 2023 (WAI): Vladimir Putin, the President of Russia, hosted the yearly “Direct Line” call-in session for Russian nationals and media on Thursday. This was the first year-end press conference since the start of the invasion of Ukraine, and it was held in conjunction with an annual news conference.
The President covered many topics in his conversation, from the Palestine issue to strengthening China-Russian relations to the conditional establishment of Moscow’s ties with Washington.
When discussing the possibility of a resurgence of ties between Russia and the US, the Russian leader stated that this would only be achievable if the US began to respect other nations and people.
He said that to resolve their differences without resorting to military action and the application of sanctions, the US must change its strategy of looking for compromise conduct.
Saying that neither country forms blocs, Putin emphasized the closer ties between China and Russia. Their camaraderie is not intended to harm any other country; rather, it is intended to advance everyone’s home country.
He mentioned that Russia is closely monitoring a state the West is trying to improve relations with. It will provide a cooperative, prompt, and efficient reaction.
According to the President, China and Russia are among the most significant global stabilizers. Beyond the alliance’s avowed goals, he stated, are Western moves to redirect NATO’s operations toward Asia.
Putin emphasized that the foundation upon which Russia and its partners establish integration programs is free will and outcomes that are advantageous to all parties. This creates circumstances that increase the nation’s competitiveness in the global market.
Taking up the cause of the Palestinian people, the President of Russia encouraged the establishment of a state for Palestine, with its capital located in East Jerusalem, by the resolutions made by the United Nations. He saw laying the foundation for an Israeli-Palestinian solution as very important.

Given that Putin has stated his intention to run for President again in March 2024, this type of sitting occurred this year before the start of his campaign.
In 2001, Russian President Vladimir Putin started holding huge yearly news conferences with the head of state. In the same year, Russian citizens may ask the President of their nation questions live through a live broadcast service called “Direct Line” with the President.
