Pakistan is active at both policy and operational levels in UN peacekeeping. As Pakistan is among the most significant contributors to UN peacekeeping missions, since 1960, Pakistan has provided over 230,000 men and women peacekeepers to the UN for 46 different peacekeeping missions around the globe, out of which 172 Pakistani peacekeepers sacrificed their lives to establish peace. This preparatory meeting represents Pakistan’s extended efforts and commitment to UN peacekeeping.

This high-level UN peacekeeping event is held twice a year, with Foreign and Defense ministers attending. The Ministerial 2023 will be held in December in Ghana, preceded by a series of four preparatory meetings, including one hosted by Pakistan, with concern for specific areas to get better results for UN peacekeeping operations.
