Pakistan-Tajikistan collaboration for prosperity

Dushanbe, 31 July 2023 (WAI): Ambassador of Pakistan to Tajikistan M. Saeed Sarwar met with Jamshed Jurakhon Jumakhonzoda, Chairman of Tajikistan’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry, in a significant move toward strengthening economic relations between Pakistan and Tajikistan. The high-level meeting aimed to explore new collaboration channels and create deeper links to enhance trade and economic partnerships.

The meeting’s main focus was economic diplomacy, underlining diplomacy’s role in promoting regional integration and economic growth. Ambassador M. Saeed Sarwar stressed the potential for reciprocal advantages through increasing trade and investment in numerous industries, improving both countries’ financial standing and contributing to regional stability and prosperity.

Creating joint ventures and investment opportunities in fields including agriculture, energy, infrastructure, and technology was one of the main discussion subjects during the meeting. Both sides noted the latent potential in these industries and pledged to develop collaborations that would contribute to long-term growth and job creation in their respective countries.

Ambassador Sarwar emphasized the strategic geographical location of both Pakistan and Tajikistan, emphasizing its importance as a gateway to regional connectivity and a critical link in the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). The two countries hoped to improve regional trade and transportation, fostering economic integration and development in Central and South Asia utilizing these economic corridors.

Furthermore, the session underlined the importance of removing trade obstacles and streamlining customs procedures to allow seamless and efficient trade between the two countries. Both sides agreed to create a framework for tariff reductions and trade facilitation measures to encourage business growth and lower trade costs.

Ambassador Sarwar and Chairman Jumakhonzoda recognized the importance of private sector engagement in driving economic progress and committed to encouraging their respective business groups to explore the unexplored potential for investment and collaborative partnerships.
