New York, 24 September 2023 (WAI): Foreign Minister of Pakistan, Jalil Abbas Jilani, underlined Pakistan’s everlasting solidarity with the Palestinian people in a strong address to the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA). He asserted that Pakistan had consistently supported its Palestinian siblings in their fight for justice and independence, highlighting that this support would last unwaveringly into the future.
Pakistan’s steadfast commitment to establishing an independent Palestinian state was at the heart of Minister Jilani’s statement. This appeal was based on the principles of justice, the law of nations, and the shared aspirations of the Palestinian people. Minister Jilani emphasized that such a state must be founded on the pre-1967 borders, which have long been acknowledged as the cornerstone for a just and enduring settlement to the Israeli-Palestinian issue.
Moreover, Minister Jilani made a momentous remark recognizing Al-Quds Al-Sharif (Jerusalem) as the future capital of the Palestinian state. This approach reflects Pakistan’s affection for the religious feelings of Muslims worldwide and its dedication to protecting the rights and cultural legacy of all people in this historically significant city. Pakistan demonstrated its commitment to a fair and comprehensive resolution that respects the rights and aspirations of all parties involved by supporting Al-Quds Al-Sharif as the capital.
