Pakistan and UAE share grief together

Abu Dhabi, 28 July 2023 (WAI): Prime Minister of Pakistan Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, accompanied by Finance Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar, Special Assistant to Prime Minister Tariq Fatemi, and Pakistan’s Ambassador to the UAE Faisal Niaz Tirmizi, paid a visit to the UAE to express condolences to UAE President Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan on the death of his brother, Sheikh Saeed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The visit highlighted Pakistan and the UAE’s solid fraternal connections.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed deep sympathy and condolences on behalf of Pakistan’s leadership, government, and people during the meeting at the Presidential Palace in Abu Dhabi. The UAE President heartily accepted the condolences and expressed gratitude for Pakistan’s support and friendship during this difficult period.

The late Sheikh Saeed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who served as the representative of the Ruler of Abu Dhabi and a devoted ally of Pakistan, was honored for his vital efforts to advance bilateral ties between the two countries. The Prime Minister commended the late Sheikh’s affinity with Pakistan, calling his death a tremendous loss for the Al Nahyan family.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif conveyed his sadness in a touching message and underlined Pakistan’s steadfast support for the Emirati brothers. He sent his condolences to the mourning Al Nahyan family and prayed for the deceased’s soul to rest in peace.

The UAE Presidential Court proclaimed a three-day mourning period in the country, with flags flying at half-mast from July 27 to 29.
