Pakistan and Denmark Forge Green Partnership

Copenhagen, 27 June 2023 (WAI): Pakistan and Denmark launched the Danish Energy Transition Program (DETI), a ground-breaking Government-to-Government (G-t-G) initiative, as a striking example of international cooperation. This collaboration strives to build a sustainable future by sharing knowledge and expertise in renewable energy.

A delegation from Pakistan’s Energy Authorities recently arrived in Denmark on a study tour, participating in peer-to-peer workshops and exchanging valuable views.

The path to a greener, more sustainable planet necessitates teamwork and global collaboration. Recognizing this need, Pakistan’s Alternative and Renewable Energy (ARE) policy, which aims to modernize the nation’s energy sector and pave the way for a sustainable tomorrow, has gained the support of Denmark and Pakistan, marking an essential step in an appropriate approach.

The Danish Energy Agency, conducted an inspirational workshop to commence this collaborative project. The Danish Energy Agency’s Director General, Kristoffer Böttzauw, warmly greeted the Pakistani team, underlining Denmark’s incredible success story in the green transition. The session provided a perfect forum for professionals from both countries to exchange expertise, best practices, and innovative solutions that can be used to move Pakistan’s renewable energy sector ahead.

Shomaila Usman, representing the Pakistan Embassy in Denmark, delivered the welcome address. Her inspirational words struck a deep chord, emphasizing the two countries’ profound and enduring links. She stressed the significance of collaborative efforts in combating climate change, recognizing the potential for collaboration to achieve meaningful change and create a brighter future for everybody.

The G-to-G collaboration between Denmark and Pakistan under the DETI program has enormous promise for expediting Pakistan’s green transformation. Pakistan aspires to make substantial strides in its journey toward sustainability by utilizing Denmark’s expertise in renewable energy and taking motivation from its success story.
