Islamabad, 18 October 2023 (WAI): The current surge of violence in the Gaza Strip in response to Israel’s attacks has captivated the worldwide community’s attention and profoundly affected the hearts and minds of children worldwide. Students from the Mazen School Quaid Campus in Islamabad, Pakistan, have voiced their deep feelings against the Gaza attacks through peaceful demonstrations.
Mazen School Quaid Campus students, teachers, and staff marched in the street after school to show their deep sadness and concern over the rising bloodshed in Gaza. Many students voiced anguish after viewing photographs and news reports of Gaza’s devastation and loss of life. They expressed their worries for the well-being and safety of the families and kids caught in the crossfire.
Principal Amina Shabbir’s motivational speech was crucial in creating empathy and a sense of global citizenship among the children. The value of peace and the part they can play in advocating for it was taught to the kids by stressing the need to comprehend the world beyond their borders.
Since October 7th, Israeli airstrikes have killed 2,750 Palestinians and injured 9,700. More than 1,000 children have reportedly died in 11 days of airstrikes on Gaza, with one child killed every 15 minutes, according to Save the Children, with children accounting for one-third of total fatalities in Gaza while the remaining children have been subjected to intense Israeli bombardment and unprecedented internal displacement, all of which have had devastating psychological and physical effects.
The incredible sense of solidarity and empathy displayed by the kids’ demonstrators was one of the protest’s most striking features. Many students carried banners and signs with the words “Children Deserve Peace”, “Every Muslim’s Life Matters,” “Save Gaza,” and “Stop the Violence.” Even though they were thousands of kilometers away, they expressed a tremendous desire to stand in solidarity with the children of Gaza.
Senior students were upset about the ongoing confrontation. They questioned the causes of the conflict’s brutality and expressed concern over the absence of a consensus-building approach. These feelings showed how worldwide conflicts affected the world’s youthful minds.
Despite the dire circumstances in Gaza, the Mazen School’s students never lost faith in a brighter tomorrow. They discussed the significance of communication, diplomacy, and peaceful cohabitation. Many of the students believed that their actions, taken together, might change the world for the better.
The kids made a passionate call for the world to pay attention to the situation in Gaza and take action to preserve civilian lives during the demonstration. Insisting that children should never be the victims of armed conflict, they pleaded with world leaders to strive towards a ceasefire and long-lasting peace in the region.
Banners proclaiming steadfast sympathy with the people of Palestine have been proudly displayed on the walls of Mazen School due to a passionate protest by the students at the institution. These vibrant works of art symbolize the students’ solidarity and support in these trying times, highlighting the significance of international cooperation and harmony.
