Islamabad, 1 September 2023 (WAI): Hamid Abbas Lafta, the Ambassador of Iraq to Pakistan, met with Jalil Abbas Jilani, Pakistan’s Foreign Minister, in a crucial diplomatic interaction at the Pakistani Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Islamabad.
During their meeting, the two diplomats discussed the strong and expanding bilateral ties between Pakistan and Iraq. The session emphasized the mutual commitment to fortifying connections and exploring new channels of collaboration across all sectors.
Foreign Minister Jilani and Ambassador Lafta underlined their appreciation for the two countries’ long-standing alliance, built-in shared history, cultural affinities, and regional interests. They underscored these relations’ critical role in maintaining regional peace, stability, and development.
One of the main discussion points was the significance of diversifying Pakistan-Iraq cooperation. The representatives emphasized their nations’ shared commitment to finding and utilizing new areas of collaboration while acknowledging the potential for growth in trade, economics, education, and healthcare.
