Seri Iskandar, 26 August 2023 (WAI): Syed Ahsan Raza Shah, Pakistan’s High Commissioner to Malaysia, honored Pakistan’s Independence Day with a momentous celebration at Universiti Teknologi Petronas (UTP).
The event, held in association with the university, served as a platform for Pakistan and Malaysia to develop bilateral relations and foster academic connections.
The presence of High Commissioner Syed Ahsan Raza Shah at the Independence Day Fest, a lively celebration of Pakistan’s rich culture and legacy, was the highlight of the occasion.
The festival brought together Pakistani pupils, educators, and staff from UTP, cultivating an environment of solidarity and patriotism. The High Commissioner heartily participated in the celebrations, emphasizing the day’s significance for Pakistanis at home and abroad.
Before the festival, High Commissioner Shah held an interactive session with senior faculty members and students at UTP. This session provided a forum for open discussions, allowing participants to share their opinions on academic and cultural interaction.
The High Commissioner lauded Pakistani students’ contributions to UTP, noting that they are the most significant international student group. Over 600 Pakistani students have successfully completed doctorate, postgraduate, and undergraduate programs at UTP.

High Commissioner Syed Ahsan Raza Shah met with Dr. Mohamed Ibrahim bin Abdul Mutalib, the Vice Chancellor of UTP, and other senior university officials to further strengthen the links between the two countries.
The discussions focused on potential areas of partnership between UTP and Pakistani higher education institutes. The official stressed the importance of academic alliances, research collaboration, and student exchange programs in improving mutual understanding and knowledge sharing.
The ceremony at UTP exemplified Pakistan and Malaysia’s long-standing relationship.
