Islamabad, 2 August 2023 (WAI): The Chief of the German Army, Lieutenant General Alfonas Mais, visited Pakistan and met with General Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff (COAS), at the General Headquarters (GHQ) to strengthen bilateral ties and share perspectives on regional security issues. Both military commanders underlined their commitment to enhancing cooperation in numerous domains during their cordial meeting.
Lieutenant General Alfonas Mais and General Syed Asim Munir examined ways to solidify the connections between their respective countries further while having fruitful discussions about issues of mutual interest during the meeting. They stressed the value of fostering cooperation to safeguard regional security and stability.
The two military commanders reiterated their intention to increase cooperation in defense, technology, and other essential areas while recognizing the historical ties between Pakistan and Germany. They recognized the significance of using each other’s expertise and resources to the advantage of their armed services and defense industries.
General Syed Asim Munir emphasized the Pakistan Army’s essential contribution to the war against terrorism, which has won appreciation from the international community. He shared Pakistan’s efforts in combating terrorism and affirmed the country’s devotion to regional peace and security.
In response, Lieutenant General Alfonas Mais commended Pakistan for its “unrelenting efforts” in the fight against terrorism and for facilitating regional stability. He admired the Pakistani military’s steadfast dedication to peace.
