Brussels, 14 December 2023 (WAI): In Brussels, Belgium, US State Department Spokesperson Matthew Miller congratulated the European Council on its decisions on the expansion of the European Union (EU).

The official statement from the US State Department made clear how committed and supportive the US is of the EU’s growth process. The development decisions were to give Georgia EU candidate status and to begin EU discussions with Moldova and Ukraine. In addition, the EU wanted to start talks with Bosnia and Herzegovina.

“A momentous occasion for our international collaboration,” declared Jim O’Brien, Assistant Secretary for European and Eurasian Affairs. To ensure Europe’s future, the US implores the European Council and community to take advantage of the current momentum and fulfill their democratic and economic potential.

The war of aggression between Russia and Ukraine is denounced by the European Union (EU) as a breach of the UN Charter. The Council restates its commitment to providing Ukraine with military and defense support to thwart and oppose any further attempts at instability.

The Council further hopes that those in charge of Russia will be held responsible for grave transgressions of international law in addition to the enormous harm this conflict has wrought.

“Russia sends hypersonic missiles to the capital and around the country as capitals in Europe and America consider important decisions for Ukraine,” stated US Ambassador to Kyiv Bridget A. Brink. She said, “These are just direct assaults of intentional hostility.” We resist unlawful assaults on the free world and Ukraine.

As predicted, candidate nations continue to make crucial choices on their road to EU membership, and the US subsequently supports the EU’s growth and membership. Over $35 billion has been spent by the US to sustain US troops stationed in Europe.

In March 2022, the European Union approved the “EU Strategic Compass,” a statement emphasizing the strategic significance of alliances with the US and NATO.
