Beijing, 17 October 2023 (WAI): China and Uzbekistan are on their way to strengthen tech ties. Ministry of Industry and Information Technologies of China and the Ministry of Digital Technologies of Uzbekistan, on October 16, signed a memorandum of cooperation in Beijing, aiming to fortify the collaboration in information and technology.
During the first day of his visit to China, Uzbekistan’s Minister of Digital Technologies, Sherzod Shermatov, and his entourage met with China’s Minister of Industry and Information Technology, Xing Zhuanglun.
The meeting occurred on the eve of the third Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation.
During the meeting, the two ministries addressed the future expansion of bilateral cooperation in the information and communication technology sector.
The parties discussed cooperation in information communications and digital technology at the conference.
Consequently, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technologies of the People’s Republic of China and the Ministry of Digital Technologies of the Republic of Uzbekistan signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on collaboration.

The agreement’s ratification broadens the possibility for collaboration between the two parties and promotes cooperation in these domains.
According to the pact, the parties committed to collaborate in infrastructure interconnection, communication network building, 5G, network security, and information and communication technologies.
Following that, new developments and applications in information and communication technologies were reviewed, such as cloud computing, the Internet, big data and open data, network security and data protection, data centers, and other sectors.
The pact also includes exchanging information and practical experience in e-government, digital economy, and artificial intelligence.
Sherzod Shermatov, Uzbek Minister of Digital Technologies, stated his willingness to expand communication and exchanges with China, to support the execution of the MOU on collaboration between the two ministries, and to continue deepening cooperation in relevant domains during the meeting.
China-Uzbekistan cooperation has been enhanced in different spheres under the combined leadership of the two nations, according to Chinese Minister Xin Zhuanlun.
