Key Points:

Humanitarian Crisis in Gaza:

The war in Gaza has entered its sixth month, leaving devastation in its wake.

A man-made famine, Israel’s relentless bombardment, and targeted killings of aid workers and civilians have exacerbated the situation.

Impact on Civilians and Aid Workers:

Over 32,000 Palestinians have lost their lives, and another 75,000 are injured.

A staggering 1.7 million people—two-thirds of Gaza’s population—have been forcibly displaced to Rafah in the south.

The siege has left Al-Shifa Hospital almost destroyed.

Tragically, aid workers face immense risks. Seven World Central Kitchen workers were killed in a recent Israeli attack, adding to the toll of over 220 humanitarian colleagues who have lost their lives. Among them, 179 were UN personnel.

Accountability and Compliance:

The Council questions the parties’ adherence to international humanitarian law.

Allegations of serious violations must be thoroughly investigated and perpetrators held accountable.

Immediate Action Needed:

World Central Kitchen and other aid organizations have suspended operations due to lacking protection.

Civilians in Gaza urgently require assistance.

Displaced individuals must be guaranteed the right to return, as demanded by international law voluntarily.

Appeal for Unhindered Aid Delivery:

The Council reiterates its deep concern over the human toll and the threat of imminent famine.

All barriers hindering the delivery of humanitarian aid must be lifted immediately.

In this critical moment, the international community must rally together to protect those on the frontlines of humanitarian assistance. The UN Security Council’s call for accountability and safeguarding aid workers is vital to alleviating the suffering in Gaza.
