North Holland, 8 April 2024(WAI): In the wake of the recent escalation in hostilities, Ambassador Bridget A. Brink, the United States Ambassador to Ukraine, urgently appeals for international attention and concerted efforts to safeguard Ukraine’s sovereignty and protect its citizens.
Air Alert and Ongoing Threats
As of 4:15 am, an air alert blankets Ukraine, signaling an imminent danger posed by drones and missiles. The situation is dire, with attacks targeting critical infrastructure and resulting in the tragic loss of civilian lives. Last month alone, 600 civilians fell victim to these ruthless assaults.

Immediate Assistance Required
Ambassador Brink emphasizes the need for swift action. “We cannot stand idly by,” she asserts. “Ukraine requires robust air defense capabilities to counter these threats effectively.” The United States, as a staunch ally, stands ready to provide crucial assistance.
U.S. Commitment to Ukraine
The U.S. commitment to Ukraine remains unwavering. With $37 billion in security assistance already provided, we continue to bolster Ukraine’s ability to defend itself. This support extends beyond immediate battlefield needs, ensuring long-term resilience.
Three Pillars of Reconstruction
Ambassador Brink outlines a comprehensive vision for Ukraine’s reconstruction, focusing on three critical aspects:
Security is the cornerstone of our efforts. We aim to remove Russian forces entirely from Ukrainian soil. Military strength is the path to peace, and we remain steadfast in this pursuit.
Economy: A thriving Ukraine is our shared goal. The upcoming London conference presents an opportunity to kickstart economic recovery.
Democracy: An open and free society, governed by the rule of law, is essential. Ukraine’s dream of integration into Europe and NATO hinges on these principles.
