Türkiye’s President on aid to Gaza

On October 13, Türkiye President Tayyip Erdogan talked about the recent delivery of Turkish aid to Gaza via Egypt during the Closing Ceremony of the 4th Türkiye-Africa Business and Economic Forum at Istanbul Congress Center.

President Erdogan emphasized that the Israeli administration should enable humanitarian supplies to be sent to Palestinians via the Rafah border crossing.

“We sent a humanitarian aid plane to El Arish Airport this morning, which contains medicine, durable food, canned goods, diapers, and medical supplies,” President Erdogan stated.

Our jet, which has been delivering first aid supplies to the region since the fighting began, arrived at the airport around midday today.”

“We are going to keep sending humanitarian aid to Gaza in close collaboration with the brotherly Egyptian authorities,” President Erdogan underlined.

At a time when millions of people are facing famine, shutting off humanitarian aid to Palestinians has etched a fresh humiliation on the faces of those who made this choice.”

President Erdogan also blasted US and British intentions to send aircraft carriers to Israel in the face of Palestinian suffering.

“We say openly that we never have and will never approve of such attacks as the bombing of mosques, hospitals, and civilian settlements,” he said in his address. The siege, which exacerbates the humanitarian situation in Gaza, clearly leaves the region vulnerable to provocations.

President Erdogan repeatedly stated in his remarks that collectively punishing the Gazan people would result in further hardship.
