In addition, throughout the last three weeks, the group has met in Beijing, Moscow, London, Barcelona, Paris, and New York. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, the Secretary-General of the Arab League, also attended meetings.

A contact group of Muslim nations was formed at a joint summit of the Arab League and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) last month, and this visit is part of a bigger plan involving this group.

The delegation has so far conveyed the idea of finding a solution for peace in Gaza that would follow the ceasefire inside the framework of the United Nations.

The organization also demanded the establishment of an independent Palestinian state based on the 1967 lines, with East Jerusalem serving as its capital.

Israel resumed its military assault on the Gaza Strip on December 1, following a week-long humanitarian ceasefire with Hamas.

Since Hamas launched a cross-border invasion on October 7, Israel has reportedly launched constant air and military bombardment on the enclave, resulting in at least 17,177 Palestinian deaths and over 46,000 injuries.
Official statistics put the number of people killed in Israel after the Hamas attack at 1,200.
