Paris, 21 June 2023 (WAI): Saudi Arabia is proud to announce its successful bid to host World Expo 2030, marking a momentous occasion in its history. After an arduous selection process, Saudi Arabia emerged as the host nation, bolstered by a compelling and visionary case that captivated the esteemed committee. This victory reflects the nation’s commitment to innovation, progress, and global collaboration.
During the royal visit, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman led a delegation of ministers and officials who provided deep insight into the Kingdom’s strategy for hosting the Expo. Additionally, the team discussed the potential location for Expo 2030 in Riyadh and the sophisticated public transit system that is a crucial component of the city’s infrastructure plan.
With the official submission of Saudi Arabia’s entire application file in September 2022, the Kingdom sought to host World Expo 2030 in Riyadh from October 1, 2030, to March 31, 2031, with the theme “The Era of Change: Together for a Foresighted Tomorrow.” The candidacy has received unprecedented international support and is well-equipped to meet all technical requirements.
Saudi Arabia has unveiled its master plan for Riyadh Expo 2030, which positions the event as the most sustainable and influential World Expo to date. The country has earmarked $7.8 billion in investments towards Expo 2030. The plan aligns with the Kingdom’s commitment to carbon neutrality. It adheres to international sustainability standards, emphasizing urban afforestation, the use of treated water, and the integration of new energy sources.
The Riyadh Expo 2030 site will be powered by clean and renewable resources, primarily solar energy. The Kingdom is dedicated to achieving high resource efficiencies, enhancing biodiversity, eliminating food waste, and implementing effective green waste management and recycling strategies.

The exhibition’s design is inspired by Riyadh’s rich history, culture, and architectural heritage. With approximately 226 pavilions, the site will symbolize Saudi Arabia’s role in promoting global cooperation. Visitors can access pavilions, public squares, cultural and innovation facilities, food services, and resting areas through fully shaded corridors. A modern green oasis within the exhibition site will add to the overall ambiance.
Riyadh Expo 2030 will also feature the Collaborative Change Corner (C3), a hub for innovation and creativity. The C3 aims to showcase how collaboration among leading minds in scientific, social, and intellectual fields can drive the changes that will shape our future.
During the BIE General Assembly, the host country for World Expo 2030 was decided by secret ballot. Saudi Arabia’s candidature is supported by its special preparation, constant dedication, and the promise of unprecedented attendance, with 40 million site visits and a billion visitors targeted through the pioneering concept of the Metaverse.
Saudi Arabia eagerly anticipates the opportunity to present a special edition of Riyadh Expo 2030, exemplifying its global standing as a leading destination for innovation, sustainability, and cultural exchange.
