Islamabad, 9 September 2023 (WAI): The 10th Commonwealth Ministerial Meeting (CYMM) will take place in the upcoming week in London, with Pakistan’s caretaker Foreign Minister, Jalil Abbas Jilani, to chair the event.

The meeting will commence on September 12 to September 15. The CYMM will be titled “Aim Higher: Delivering More for Young People in Commonwealth”; the topic corresponds with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

The agenda of the meeting is to broadly discuss the four E’s – core areas: education, employment, engagement, and environment, already mentioned in the Prime Minister Youth Program (PMYP).

As Pakistan undertakes the charge of the chair, the Commonwealth Secretariat is hosting the Commonwealth Youth Ministerial Meeting. Pakistan has continuously contributed and worked proactively to shape the agenda of the forthcoming event scheduled for next year, the Commonwealth Heads of Government Summit, in Samoa.

Pakistan’s Foreign Minister is expected to meet the member ministers and other prominent Commonwealth officials during his stay in London. Pakistan places high value on the Commonwealth, notably its flagship Commonwealth Youth Program commemorating its 50th year.

Commonwealth and Pakistan’s governments concurrently acknowledge and observe the present year as the “Year of Youth.” Pakistan is keen on promoting youth, boosting economic growth, and significant youth involvement in development and progress.

For the Ministers, the meeting is intended as an opportunity and place to speak on rising youth progress challenges and exchange thoughts, approaches, and strategies. Also, identifying possibilities and ways to strengthen and foster cooperation, analyzing the Covid-19 era within the Commonwealth’s member states, and highlighting 50 years of Commonwealth Youth Development.

The Commonwealth Youth Ministers Meeting is a significant event focusing on youth policy among its member states and supporting actions to improve each nation’s youthful devotion. In terms of youth development, this helps to expand social and sustainable development goals.
