Tehran, 26 October 2023 (WAI): Iran’s Foreign Minister, Hossein Amirabdollahian, has taken a firm stance on the current humanitarian crisis in Gaza, writing to the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Turk.

In this letter, Amirabdollahian severely condemned the “Zionist regime’s gross and systematic violation” of Palestinian human rights.

Amirabdollahian voiced deep concern over the condition of the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and added territory that had been under Israeli regime attack for two weeks in a row.

This prolonged battle has resulted in the sad deaths and injuries of thousands of Palestinian civilians, including women and children, and the extensive devastation of residential structures, civilian institutions, infrastructure, hospitals, schools, places of worship, and even United Nations installations.

The Iranian Foreign Minister went on to say that the Israeli regime’s rhetoric, as well as the large-scale, systematic strikes by Zionist soldiers in Gaza, revealed that this had been nothing short of a campaign of genocide against the Palestinian people.

According to Amirabdollahian, the ferocity of these strikes revealed a grave desire to carry out mass executions.
The letter cited alarming data, including a report from the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), which stated that more than 700 children have been massacred in Gaza, with 2,450 others injured since the fighting began on October 7.

The Israeli regime’s activities, including the forcible displacement of Palestinians and its invasion of Gaza for “ethnic cleansing,” were in direct violation.

Amirabdollahian emphasized that the Israeli regime’s activities, including the forcible displacement of Palestinians and its invasion of Gaza for “ethnic cleansing,” directly violated international law.

The implementation of a “total blockade” by the Israeli state, which resulted in a severe shortage of critical commodities, underlined the Palestinian people’s lack of protection in the Gaza Strip.

The Foreign Minister stressed that Israel’s authorities have continuously neglected and abused international human and humanitarian rights, which has been made possible by an unsustainable level of lawlessness.

He urged the entire world, notably the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, to take robust measures to convict the Zionist state of responsibility for its acts.

He expressed his hope that the UN’s High Commissioner for Human Rights would step in quickly to halt the Israeli regime’s attacks and hold those responsible for war crimes and crimes against humans accountable.

He reiterated the Islamic Republic of Iran’s strong criticism of the Israeli regime’s “gross and systematic violation” of Palestinian human rights.
