India passes the gavel to Brazil at G20 summit

New Delhi, 11 September 2023 (WAI): During the concluding Summit of G20 in New Delhi, India’s Prime Minister – Narendra Modi, signifying the leadership shift of the bloc, handed over the presidency to Brazil. The Indian PM stated. “We firmly believe that Brazil will lead devotedly and further foster international unity and prosperity. India pledges to support Brazil fully during the upcoming G20 presidency,”

While demonstrating his thoughts, the Brazilian President mentioned that “the motto of Brazil’s G20 presidency is establishing a fair and sustainable world. In addition, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva said practices that direct us in our central government activities and are now at the top of G20.”

“A divided G20 is not in our interest; only by working together, we can meet all the challenges. We need peace and collaboration instead of getting into conflicts,” declared Brazil’s President.

“The journey from New Delhi to Rio de Janeiro demands a great deal of devotion and effort from all. The G20 members will be welcomed with warmth; see you in November 2024,” he said while delivering a message on X, a social media app.

Following the conclusion of the Summit 2023, PM Modi felicitated President Luiz Inacio da Silva for formally passing the gavel of G20 chairmanship to Brazil. Meanwhile, meeting with Brazil’s President, PM Modi discussed ways to improve trade and cooperation in tech and agriculture.

“I conferred with India’s Prime Minister regarding our countries’ 75-year-old diplomatic ties; we reviewed G20 and discussed agricultural growth along with the possibilities of the Brazil-India Business Leaders Forum and the Global Alliance for Biofuels.”

“Also, I thanked Indian people for their hospitality and warmth,” added the Brazilian President. Brazil will officially take up the presidency of the exclusive league on December 1.
