Lahore 20 May 2021 (WAI): Chinese Consul General Zhao Shiren has stated that the second phase of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project will soon begin.
Zhao Shiren addressed the national conference on ’73’73 years of Pak-China Diplomatic Relations: Achievements and Way forward’, which was organized by the School of Communication Studies, University of the Punjab, at Hameed Nizami Hall on Monday.
Addressing the participants, Zhao Shirin said that China will continue to support Pakistan in every aspect ranging from defense to national security issues. INSHALLAH, Pakistan, will soon become a permanent member of the Security Council of the United Nations.
He further added that the Federal Minister of Pakistan, Prof Ahsan Iqbal, will visit China soon to meet Chinese authorities and investors and attract Chinese investment in Pakistan.
China and Pakistan are collaborating in various sectors such as mining, IT, and energy, demonstrating the breadth of their partnership. Additionally, China’s support for Pakistan’s stance on the Kashmir Issue at international forums is a testament to their strong diplomatic ties.
The Chinese Consul General highlighted over the past 73 years, the relationship of trust has also been developed between the Governments and the peoples of both states.

Furthermore, he assured that Consul General Lahore would continue to cooperate with the Punjab government to strengthen educational, economic, and cultural relations. Expressing his gratitude, he thanked the PU School of Communication Studies for organizing the conference on this historic occasion.
Prof Dr Noshina Saleem commented that China was playing an important role in Pakistan’s socio-economic development. This cooperation proved the deep friendship between the two countries from generation to generation. She said that China has always stood by Pakistan through thick and thin and supported Pakistan’s stance on the Kashmir Issue at international forums.
President of the Lahore Chamber of Commerce, Kashif Anwar, also expressed his thoughts. He said that China’s role in Pakistan’s development at all levels was exemplary. Furthermore, CPEC was a wonderful initiative under “BRI” that will create opportunities for trade, investment, and jobs.
Dr Mahmood ul Hassan, Executive Director of the Center for South Asia and International Studies, also attended the conference. He remarked that CPEC and One Belt, One Road will further strengthen the relations between the two states, which will be fruitful for economic stabilization. He further added that there has been an increase in trade between Pakistan and China in the last 27 years.
The CPEC project was a gift to the people of Pakistan, starting a new chapter of prosperity.
