China sends assistances for Gwadar flood Victims

Gwadar, 6 March 2024 (WAI): China Overseas Ports Holding (Pakistan) Co. Ltd. (COPHC) responded swiftly to the devastating floods that hit Gwadar, Pakistan, from February 27 to 29, marking the region’s most severe deluge in 16 years. The heavy rainfall wreaked havoc, causing widespread destruction of roads, collapsing homes, and plunging residents into hardship.

In the wake of this natural disaster, COPHC immediately assisted the affected communities. Recognizing the urgent need for aid, the company procured and distributed essential supplies to alleviate the suffering of those impacted by the floods. Among the relief efforts, COPHC facilitated the purchase of 30,000 bottles of water and 3,000 canned food items, ensuring that necessities reached those in need promptly.

Additionally, COPHC’s commitment to supporting the local community was evident through its collaboration with the China-Pakistan Faqeer Colony Middle School. Constructed with Chinese assistance, the school was crucial in providing shelter to hundreds of individuals affected by the floods, offering a haven during this challenging time.

Commenting on the relief efforts, a spokesperson for COPHC stated, “We stand in solidarity with the people of Gwadar during this challenging period. Our immediate response reflects our unwavering commitment to support the community in times of crisis. Through collaborative efforts and swift action, we aim to alleviate the hardships those affected by the devastating floods face.
