Amman, 6 November 2023 (WAI): Antony Blinken, the US Secretary of State, as per Jordan’s State-run Petra News Agency, stated on Saturday that achieving an early truce in Gaza would allow the Hamas organization to reassemble its troops.

On Saturday, Jordan carried out a closed-door discussion in Amman between Blinken and the foreign ministers of the five Arab countries and the Secretary-General of the Palestine Liberation Organization’s Executive Committee.

The statements were stated by Blinken during a joint news conference with Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi and Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry in Amman, Jordan, following a meeting with foreign ministers from several Arab nations and a PLO representative on the Israel-Hamas conflict.

Blinken confirmed America’s willingness to endorse “humanitarian pauses” in Gaza, allowing relief delivery and people to move freely to secure locations.

The US’s state secretary emphasized the need to protect Palestinian civilians while reiterating his country’s backing of Israel’s right to “stand up to itself against the militant movement.”

Antony Blinken added that the US will use its influence to prevent any new states from joining new fronts in the ongoing Israel-Hamas bloody conflict.

For the sake of argument, Ayman Safadi, Foreign Minister of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, reaffirmed Jordan’s appeal for an early ceasefire and the delivery of humanitarian supplies to Gaza.

Safadi also rejected to call Israel’s current attacks on Gaza “self-defense,” opposing any attempt to evict Palestinians from their homes and expressing worry about the circumstances in the West Bank.
