Minsk, 13 October 2023 (WAI): In a ground-breaking development, Pakistan and Belarus have ratified the Agreement on the Abolition of Visas for Diplomatic and Official Passport Holders. The news was officially announced by Sajjad Haider Khan, Pakistan’s Ambassador to Belarus, after unanimous approval by the Belarusian parliament.
The agreement symbolizes the two countries’ long-standing friendship and their commitment to fostering diplomatic relations, cooperation, and people-to-people interactions.
Ambassador Khan expressed his joy at this historic achievement. He stated, “The removal of visa requirements for holders of diplomatic and official passports marks a crucial moment in our relations with Belarus. This significant measure would likely encourage increased diplomatic interaction, commercial, and cultural interchange between our countries.”
Sergei Aleinik, Foreign Minister of Belarus, visited Pakistan for two days on March 30, 2023. During his stay, he had constructive conversations with Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Pakistan’s Foreign Minister.
During the meeting, both nations signed the Agreement on Visa Abolition for Holders of Diplomatic and Official Passports between Pakistan and Belarus. This accord aimed to facilitate travel for diplomats and other government representatives to enhance communication and exchanges between the two nations.
Pakistan and Belarus have a significant potential for association due to their exciting cultures, growing economies, and abundant economic opportunities.
